Seniors Wise SA is a volunteer based service funded by the South Australian Government that :
- Provides information and explores options
- Raises awareness on a range of ageing topics in the community
- Encourages local businesses to provide senior friendly services
- Builds a stronger community together with seniors
Seniors Wise SA is a program of Seniors Information Service and an initiative of the Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (formerly Department for Families and Communities).
During its inital phase Seniors Wise SA will be focussing on Adelaide metropolitan area.
Seniors Information Service and Meal on Wheels (SA) Inc are working collaboratively to deliver the Seniors Wise SA Home Visiting Scheme.
How does Seniors Wise SA work in our community?
Seniors Wise SA can provide information through:
- Answering your phone calls
- User-friendly website enquiries
- Personal home visits
- Group presentations and seminars
- Personal visits to our office
- Providing a senior friendly business directory.
Information and Support
Seniors Wise SA provides older people with information and support to meet their individual needs through:
- Information regarding different services
- Referral to relevant services
- Home visits - information brought to you in your home by friendly volunteers.
Community Awareness
Seniors Wise SA raises awareness in the general community on a range of ageing issues and works to break down negative stereotypes of seniors by conducting free talks and seminars.
Senior Friendly Business Certification
Seniors Wise SA assists businesses to better serve older customers by assessing their:
- Access and layout
- Customer service
- Website (if applicable)
Successful businesses will be certified as Senior Friendly and carry the Senior Friendly Business logo to be easily identified, as well as being listed in the Senior Friendly Business directory.
